A short history of Farmer Al's
Yes, there was a Farmer Al. He passed away in 2001 at the age of
88, after living most of his life in Monroe Township, NJ.
In 1924, Farmer Al came to Jamesburg, NJ with his parents, John and
Rosalia
Bohinski and 5 brothers and sisters. The family grew vegetables
and
raised dairy cows on the present site until the death of John Bohinski
in the 1950's.
Alex, "Farmer Al" continued growing vegetables and began to raise
flower
plants on a small scale. His family got involved in the
greenhouses
in the 1970's and have carried on the tradition ever since. The
greenhouse
range has expanded but the family continues to offer the personal
service
and quality plants that Farmer Al extended to his customers when
there was one, small lean-to greenhouse.
